The Bemis Center will open its campus to offer the public the opportunity to visit studios and meet its current arts-in-residence. The highlight will be the premiere of an immersive space, commissioned by nationally renowned artist Sean Ward. The art installation in the Okada building (East of the main facility) will host a concert featuring local and touring bands including Bone Rattle, Pod Blotz, Plack Blague, FATHR^ and Vverevvolf Grev. Complimentary Beverages will be provided.

Witching Hour, the BLUEBARN’s late-night ensemble, will present four fast-paced performances of a collection of 30 one-minute original works based on the whims of the audience. Tours, food and beverages will be provided in between performances, which will take place at 5:30, 7, 8:30 and 10 p.m.

Highlighting Omaha’s early days, the Durham Museum’s parking deck will host an old-fashioned ice cream social with free root beer floats (while supplies last), music and dancing. Bands include: Lenny's Dixie 5 from 5-7 p.m., Omaha Symphony's Dixieland Band from 7-9 p.m., and the Roundhouse band from 9-11 p.m. There will also be pastimes from the turn of the century including hoop and stick, hopscotch, checkers and jacks. Come inside and visit the old-fashioned soda fountain, candy counter and the special exhibit Moneyville.

Beginning at 5 p.m., Film Stream's Ruth Sokolof Theater will offer free continuous showings of Martin Scorsese's The Last Waltz and D.A. Pennebaker's MontereyPop. At 7 p.m., an outdoor concert (for those 18 years and older) featuring local bands including Flowers Forever and Azure Ray will kick-off in the parking lot of the Saddle Creek development. The nationally known act, Cursive, will take stage at 9:30 p.m. The concert will conclude at 11 p.m., but the festivities will continue inside Slowdown with a 21-and-older after party until 1 a.m. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Hot Shops Art Center

Hot Shops will hold a studio-wide open house with artist demonstrations of coin striking, welding, glassblowing and pottery glazing. Food and beverage will be provided in the first floor gallery with musical entertainment provided by an Omaha Symphony string quartet.

Throughout the evening, guests can enjoy guided tours of Joslyn’s permanent collections as well as special exhibitions of Latino art. Outdoors, in the new sculpture garden, artists Leslie Iwai and Matt Lowe will lead visitors to create collaborative artwork. From 8-11 p.m., there will be a concert/dance party featuring regional favorite Son Venezuela’s pan-global approach to music incorporating salsa, cumbia, merengue and tamborera alongside modern Latin and American styles. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged during the dance. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Lauritzen will offer several "Wine Around the World" sampling stations offering free taste samples (while supplies last) throughout the gardens. Each station will take on a theme country and offer wine and music inspired by that region. Locations and themes include: Festival Garden (France), Victorian Garden (Germany), Marsh Pond (Australia), Model Railroad Garden (America), Sunpu Castle Gate (Japan) and the Herb Garden (Italy). Additional wine and dinner items will be available for purchase. After dark, move inside for "Pinot and Piano" to enjoy complimentary bite-sized desserts and shopping in the wine cellar. The first 500 guests in attendance will receive a free commemorative wine glass.

Guests can enjoy a casual evening at the Holland Center where an outdoor version of Omaha Performing Arts’ 1200 Club will perform in the open-air courtyard. From 5-11 p.m., the audience will enjoy musical performances by Luigi Inc. (Luigi Waites on drums) at 5 p.m., Sarah Benck at 6 p.m., Black Squirrels at 7 p.m., Shiver Shiver at 8 p.m., Prairie Cats at 9 p.m. and Satchel Grande at 10 p.m. Table seating will be available and lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Opera Omaha will present an open-air production of Das Barbecu, a country western spoof of Wagner’s Ring Cycle, outside of KANEKO. While the majority of Friday’s activities will be most appealing to adults, three downtown organizations along 20th Street – the Omaha Children's Museum, the Downtown YMCA and The Rose Theater – will offer kid-oriented activities that families will enjoy. These organizations will offer a variety of indoor and outdoor activities from 5-9 p.m.

The Rose Theater

The Rose will offer a wide variety of activities such as costume dress-up, karaoke, mini classes and face painting. A roaming balloon artist will entertain the kids and there will be free birthday cake for all. Outside, kids of all ages can participate in a hands-on scenery painting activity.
